ShanghaiNightlife
Generally, nightlife in Shanghai is full of fun and excitement, bars nightclubs, dance clubs and halls, opera-shows, live music etc. Almost every 5 star hotel has a bar and other entertainment venues. Aside of nightclub style entertainment you could see a Peking Opera, acrobatics (very popular in China), some dances and singing or hit the disco. In recent year’s great looking theme pubs, exotic bars with totally unique styles brought nightlife in Shanghai to new heights.
Compared to previous years, today Shanghai enjoys a more colorful and vibrant nightlife. Now in Shanghai, people can find large-scale performances of acrobatics, musicals, opera, dance, theatre, and classical and contemporary music. Large-scale pop and rock concerts are happening with increasing frequency; artists like the Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, and Celine Dion have all played here in the last few years. New state-of-the-art theaters and auditoriums have attracted in recent years the likes of Yo-Yo Ma, Luciano Pavarotti, the Kirov Ballet, and touring companies of Les Miserables and Cats, among others.
Nightclubs and bars are also booming, with joints opening and closing faster than night can turn into day. Barflies now have a choice of everything from glamorous Art Deco lounges to the seediest watering hole; live rock and jazz can be heard into the wee hours (although 2am is the official closing hour); and the dance club scene now employs DJs, foreign and local, to keep the younger set raving.
Dance Clubs & Discos
Shanghai has some of the most sophisticated and elaborate dance clubs and discos in China. The bar scene is lively, too, but clubs and discos are for those who want to party on the dance floor as well as at the bar -- or at least for those who want to observe Shanghai nightlife at a pitch it hasn't reached since the 1930s. Shanghai's dance club scene relies heavily on DJs, whether foreign superstars brought in on a short engagement or increasingly sophisticated locals.
The Lounge & Bar Scene
In recent years, Shanghai's lively nightlife seems to have cleaved along the lines of the Bund crowd. After the Bund, Tongren Road remains the liveliest bar street, with Hengshan Road still in the mix. Expect drink prices, especially for imports, to be the same as, if not more than, you'd pay in the bars of a large city in the West. Tipping is not necessary, although it does make the bartenders happy.
The Bund Night Scene
The Bund is a must-see if you want to experience nightlife in Shanghai. The Bund concentrates almost all of the beauty of the shades in Shanghai, attracting agminate folks to enjoy the night. Many tourists are attracted by its illuminated night scene.
Xin Tian Di
Xin Tian Di offers the most choices and favorable appreciation. It collects international galleries, fashion shops, themed restaurants, coffee house and bars. The arrival of more and more boutiques, designer shops and luxury goods stores continually adds to the enjoyment of Xin Tian Di.
Fu Xing Park
Fu Xing Park, located at No.2, Haolan Road, is the only well-preserved French park in China, so people also call it "French Garden". Park 97 is a most popular destination in Fu Xing Park. Three popular food and entertainment groups, Baci Restaurant of Italian cuisine, Tokyo Joe Restaurant with its Japanese cuisine and the California Club from Hongkong Lan Kwai Fong make up Park 97. Compared with that in Xin Tian Di, nightlife here is not that showy but exudes and everlasting glamour. With elegance, exoticism, top-rand wine and music, Park 97 has its special charm.
Hen Shan Road
It's one of the most popular places to get involved with nightlife. It was the hottest place before Xin Tian Di. It seems losing its attraction right now. But it shows a more natural and real Shanghai taste. Taking an afternoon walk on Hen Shan Road is the most joyful thing, with the entire noise scattering away from you, with all shades covering upon your head, with little people passing by you. Probably it's the best Shanghai life.
Mao Ming Road
Maoming Road is the place to go for a fun at night. Maoming Road is an upwardly mobile bar street. This is where the foreign guests like to stay. The old but noted bars like Judystoo are still popular with visitors. Newly-opened Babyface's business is booming. The Colors and Face clubs inside the Ruijin Hotel in the street add their own touch of splendor to this road. Babyface is a lounge bar and often full of people as it is where young people like to congregate.
