Description
The Qin Huai River is the biggest river in Nanjing. It’s also the birthplace of the age-old Nanjing culture. As such, it’s called "Nanjing’s mother river". The advantaged environment and accumulated culture have created the magnificent scenery along the river and made the city of Nanjing beautiful, either day or night.
5km length Qin Huai River Scenic Belt with the ConfuciusTemple as its center is the largest gathering of entertainment venues and loved by tourists at home and abroad. The popular local phrase, "The prosperous ten miles of Qin Huai" means the prosperous atmosphere with the flux of merchants and literati in ancient China. It was historically described as "the place filled with elegance and talent, and the residence gathered with rich and famous". The renovated Qin Huai River is still having old boats, waterside pavilions and red mansions with green windows, but the adding of the modern lighting techniques, the ancient atmosphere is weakened as the leisurely lifestyle.
Qin Huai River and the ConfuciusTemple were flourishing places. Both banks of the Ten-MileQin HuaiheRiver were home to aristocrats’ residences and a magnet for scholars and writers. However, the areas suffered decline for some time after the Sui and Tang dynasties. Prosperity didn’t return until the Ming and Qing dynasties, when wealthy merchants re-gathered in the areas lined with pleasure quarters. The river was dotted with sailing barges again. The areas became a beautiful place in the south of the Yangtze River.

ConfuciusTemple on the bank of the Qin Huai River are among the top four Chinese snack styles. Restaurants, tea houses and roadside snack stalls are everywhere in the area, which has become a catering center with distinctive Qin Huai flavors.
Qin Huai River develops with the ConfuciusTemple at the center and the river serving as a bond. The belt featuring attractions like ZhanyuanGarden, the ConfuciusTemple, Egret Islet, China Gate as well as the sailing boats in the river and pavilions and towers on the riverbanks is a perfect blend of historic sites, gardens, barges, streets, pavilions, towers and folk culture and customs, having great charm and flavor.
