Shopping in Mongkok - Far less glitzy than Causeway Bay, Mongkok is the most populated area per square meter in the world and amongst the crowded streets you’ll find a host of markets. The markets sell everything from cheap Chinese fashion, to watches, handbags and copy versions of every designer product on earth. There is even a dedicated Goldfish and Flower market. Although they’re often slated for being full of tourist tat, which is true to an extent, particularly at the Ladies market, you’ll still find plenty of locals nosing around, proving there are bargains to be had. Shopping in Central - Hong Kong’s Central district is awash with cash and unsurprisingly you’ll find most of the city’s swankiest, malls, shops and boutiques nestled in amongst the skyscrapers. If that wasn’t enough, Hollywood Road is also one of the world centers for Chinese antiques with around fifty outlets stocking the finest furniture, ceramics and art from the past 1000 years.

 

Shopping in Sham Shui Po - Often overlooked by tourists to the city, Sham Shui Po is a true working class area of Hong Kong stuffed with pile-em-in and pile-em-high residential buildings and grubby malls. The shops here don’t have the glitz and glamour of Hong Kong Island and the owners won’t speak English but they are a great place to bag a bargain. The big buys here are at the wholesale stores, which offers cut price fabrics and clothing and although most of the shops only sell to trade there are a decent number selling to individuals. Also worth a visit is the Golden Shopping Arcade, probably the best priced computer market in the city and an excellent place to pick up games and gaming equipment.
