Yuexiu Park
Overview
Location
Yuexiu Park acts as a natural defense in the northern part of the Guangzhou city.
History
With height of more than 7000m above sea level, it is historically known as Yue (Guangdong) Xiu Mountain, Yue Wang Mountain. During the Ming dynasty, in the reign of Yong Le, Guan Yin temple was built on this mountain hence it is also called Guan Yin mountain.
During the early West Han dynasty, Yue Xu Mountain was known to offer pilgrimage to many people, but then in the early 20th Century, Dr Sun Yat Sen, suggested that Yue Xu should be turned into a grand park which was only realized after the liberation of China in 1949.
Attraction
Yuexiu Park consists of seven peaks with the main peak being the Yuejing Peak, and three artificial lakes – Beixiu Lake, Nanxiu Lake, and Dongxiu Lake. The Park has been well known for the beautiful hills and waters and plenty of historical relics that you can enjoy at ease in the park.
Besides the splendid natural scenery of Yuexiu Park, there have many famous scenic sites of different historical periods, such as the well known "Statue of the Five Goats", Zhenhai Tower, the Ancient City Wall of the Ming Dynasty, Sifang Emplacement and Zhongshan Monument.
What’s more, Yuexiu Park provides an amusement park, swimming pool, gymnasium, restaurants, stalls, museum and art museum besides plant and flower viewing area. All visitors find pleasure in Yuexiu Park.

Tips
There are five gates to Yuexiu Park, namely the Facet, East, West, North and South Gates. There are many buses at each gate with Metro Line 2 arriving at Facet Gate. The best tourist time: Spring is the best time to visit, when the temperature is moderate and Guangzhou Garden Fair is held here.
